Expression. Healing. Connection.
Expression. Healing. Connection. Three words that are heard in conversations around mental health. They are also words familiar to those in the arts. Two seemingly very different conversations with some common ground. Something that the arts provide for those coping with mental health issues is a way to communicate when it is difficult to put feelings and thoughts into words. Dance Louder Than Words does just that.
To this day, when people experience trauma or feel as though they are in survival mode for the thousandth day, it becomes difficult to find words to express their emotions, to tell their story, and/or to ask for help. That is where dance lives. It is why Mental Health America of Augusta (MHA-A) and the National Dance Society (NDS) are partnering for a unique event, Dance Louder Than Words.
